Association for Women Geoscientists (AWG)

Welcome to the first Association for Women Geoscientists Chapter in the state of Indiana!

AWG mission: To enhance the quality and level of participation of women in geosciences and to introduce girls and young women to geoscience careers.

Our goal: To create a supportive community for women geoscientists in central Indiana now and help build a welcoming community for the next generation. 

Shared values:  Respect, honesty, encouragement, openness, and inclusivity

What we do: Host bi-monthly meetings and gatherings with the goals of building community, networking, learning, and exploring

Join us for a Tea Party!

Indulge in a feast of scrumptious sandwiches and delectable desserts paired with an extensive selection of expertly crafted teas! Elegant garments appreciated, but not required. Attendees will have the opportunity to record short pieces of advice and encouragement that will be shared with high school Earth Science students.

We are excited to announce the results of our Fall 2023 election for the Central Indiana Chapter AWG Leadership team. We are happy to welcome Peggy, Lori, and Jenny into their new roles!

We have a New Logo!

Our new logo is above...isn't it great?! Congrats to Andrea Goddard, assistant professor in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at IU Bloomington, for her winning submission! We thank all who submitted logo ideas, and to those that voted to make Andrea's submission a winner.

The CICAWG Leadership team gives our sincerest thanks to Cam Macris, Associate Professor at IUPUI, for her service the past three years! Cam was an invaluable asset to the formation of our new chapter, acting as Treasurer and guiding us through the formation of new bylaws and other chapter admistrative duties.
