While working on the project I was able to understand what individuals with Fibromyalgia go through just the receive a diagnosis. It was not very surprising to learn that the symptoms that women were struggling with were not taken seriously. While it was not surprising it was still upsetting to research about the instances that women were not listened to until the illness caused widespread and immense pain to their every day life. I learned that it is important to listen to symptoms and concerns of the patient.
Through the Health Agency Annual Report assignment for my course, Legal Aspects & Regulatory Aspects-Rehab, I gained a deeper understanding of how state agencies play an active role in protecting public health. I learned that lead exposure prevention is a major focus, and that agencies are not only offering resources for testing but also developing programs to reduce the risks within communities. It was eye-opening to see the amount of collaboration between different organizations working toward the same goal of lowering lead exposure cases.
This assignment also highlighted the seriousness of lead exposure, especially in children. I learned that there is no safe level of lead in the body and that one of the most common sources of exposure continues to be lead-based paint and dust. Understanding these risks emphasized the importance of health agencies’ work in educating the public, promoting safe housing, and ensuring proper legal and health protections are in place to safeguard vulnerable populations.
