What is this site for?
While history itself never changes, our understanding of it does. As more documents are discovered and various journals are analyzed, previous theories are revisited and revised. While historians' understanding of history grows and develops, most of the population's does not.
K-12 schools are especially stuck in the past when teaching history. Old textbooks combined with even older understandings can lead to many teachers lecturing information we now understand to be misleading or factually incorrect. It is also easy to make assumptions based on misleading art, documents, or narratives.
It is the goal of this site to identify and correct some of these misunderstandings. Various sources will be linked to each section so readers can pursue further knowledge. I hope that you will be able to appreciate some of the nuances in history and learn from them. A better understanding of our past can lead us to make better decisions regarding our future.
