Check Out Kits

As part of the participation in CS4R8, check out kits have been created for various computer science tools. Below you will find information about the kits, as well as a Google Form to request a classroom kit to checkout. Checkout request times may vary depending on the number of students you plan to implement the tool with (e.g., 2-weeks, 1-month).

Root Robot

iRobot's product, Root rt0, provides an opportunity for students to program at any level with multiple inputs and outputs. Available for checkout, Grades K-8.

What do you need to know?

  • Requires Bluetooth

  • Program Options: App Store, Google Play, or Web-based Option

  • Check Out Kit Includes: 1 charging block, 15 USB cables, 15 Root rt0, 15 sets of vinyl clings, 15 foldable mats/whiteboards, 15 microfiber clothes, 15 dry erase markers (all included in a transportable rolling bin)

Sphero Minis

Sphero Minis are robotic balls that can controlled through apps! The Sphero Mini kits come with challenges and games, or you can create your own activities. Available for checkout, Grades K-8.

What do you need to know?

  • Requires Bluetooth

  • Application Options: Sphero EDU app (App Store, Google Play, Mac, Windows, Chrome or Kindle); Sphero Play app (App Store, Google Play)

  • Check Out Kit Includes: 15 pencil boxes with each: 1 -Sphero Mini ball; 1 - Sphero Nubby cover; 6 -bowling pins; 3 -cones; 28 additional construction pieces for obstacle courses (see image); all included in a transportable bin with 15 sets of (15) Activity Cards, 15 USB Cables, and 1 charging block.

little Bits - Code Bits

littleBits, magnetic inputs and outputs, allow for users to quickly create games and make inventions. However, if you have the Code Bit you can also explore programming! This checkout kit is to compliment the littleBit kits provided for teachers, Grades 3-8, who participated in CS4R8. Available for checkout, Grades 3-8.

What do you need to know?

  • Requires Bluetooth

  • Program Options: Fuse App (Web-based); littleBits App (Apple Store, Android Store)

  • Check Out Kit Includes: 11 code bits, 11 matrices (square or round), 1 USB power, 2 buttons, 1 dimmer, 1 slide dimmer, 1 pressure sensor, 1 sound trigger, 3 wires, 1 branch, 1 bargraph, 1 servo (cross axle), 1 speaker

  • littlbeBits Code Bits Check Out Form: Use the form link to request to checkout a kit. You will need the other bits provided to you through the grant (e.g., power bits) in order to use this with a classroom of students.
