1. Why do migrant workers need bicycles?
Migrant workers often reside in farflung areas like Sungei Kadut and Tuas, distant from basic amenities such as supermarkets. On top of that, some workers endure a 20-minute walk to reach the nearest bus stop. This means that after a long day doing physically-demanding work, workers have to travel long distances just to run errands such as grocery shop.
We have an ambitious dream to help workers by giving them bicycles. Beyond the practicality of commuting, a bicycle offers them the precious gift of time – a chance to rest and rejuvenate after toiling away in physically demanding jobs.
2. When does the initiative run?
Our ONE Bicycle Drive runs from January 2 to March 31, 2024. However, we accept bicycle donations all year round and this initiative is part of efforts to educate and increase awareness of the situation that migrant brothers face when working in Singapore.
3. What kind of bicycles are acceptable for donation?
Adult bicycles that are functional are acceptable for donation. We ask that donors check that the brakes, gears, tires are in good working condition before donating the bicycles.
We do not accept Children's bicycles
4. Can I donate a bicycle that is no longer in working condition?
Unfortunately, no for now. We are only able to accept bicycles that are in good working condition.
As we start to grow our network of collaborations, this might change in future. Please check back again!
5. How can I donate my bicycle?
You can donate your bicycle by filling up this form. A volunteer will reach out to you within 1 week. For urgent donations, please message 81018070 to drop off the bicycle at our store.
6. How will the donated bicycles be distributed to migrant workers?
As bicycles are bulky and hard to transport, we ask that donors consider arranging for delivery to our migrant workers, if possible.
We can arrange for workers to collect your residence/location, but the wait time will be longer as we will prioritise donations who are able to deliver first.
7. Can I request for a specific migrant worker to receive my donated bicycle?
No, the organization will distribute the laptops based on their own assessment of the needs of migrant workers.
