Donate Safety Shoes for the Migrant Workers!
Donate Safety Shoes for the Migrant Workers!
We get many requests from migrant workers asking for safety shoes. A pair of shoes costs somewhere between $40 -$60 and for the worker to buy that pair of shoe means spending several days’ wages.
We often get asked whether it is the employer’s responsibility to provide the safety shoes for the workers. While we understand that to be the case, we hear from workers that employers do provide a pair of shoes but in some cases, if those shoes get damaged, some employers provide the replacement at the worker’s cost.
We do not wish to play a blame game, but we cannot turn away workers who come to us seeking help to replace damaged safety shoes when we know they don’t have any other option. Rest assured we always do our due diligence before distributing the shoes and wherever possible we liaise with the authorities and the employers to ensure everybody plays their part.
We look forward to your support!
