EC Pro summary

An AutoCAD LISP routine to calculate elevations and create labels from a known point and a slope. This is an ideal program to quickly generate design and labels for many types of construction documents.

The appearance of the labels is highly configurable and the calculation tools make it easy to get the information you have and put it in to your files. Options for calculating elevation changes around curves saves time. The program is flexible enough even to extract the actual slope of a 3D line and use it in your calculations!

Label styles are stored and easily retrieved for use at a later time. You can export and import your settings so you can distribute them to your design team making your plans more consistent.

Simplify elevation calculations

EC Pro was designed by a civil engineer to work the way that we typically work on any given day. The ultimate goal of EC Pro is to eliminate the need to measure distances, enter numbers into a calculator, then copy or create a label, and type in the elevation you just calculated. Each one of those steps has the potential for mistakes.

A simple calculation that we do hundreds of times per day is simplified down to it's basics. Select a starting point, enter the elevation, move to a new point, enter the slope. The locations are labeled and the slope is noted on the plans.

EC Pro can also correctly calculate the slope or elevation along a curve. You can also target a specific elevation given a slope, as well as "test" calculate an elevation before committing.

Customizable labels

The labels are endlessly flexible. Need to show both a top of curb elevation and a flowline elevation for a curb label? That's easy! Now do you need one that just shows finished surface? Easily switch with tap on the keyboard or fully customize it in the dialog box.

All properties of the label are customizable (including layers) to mimic your current plans. You can select from a wide range of label types including basic line and text, multileader, and even multileader bubble notes with text.

Standardize your styles

Import and export styles from one machine to another to standardize your plans appearance. EC Pro will even automatically import supporting dimension, multileader, and textstyles for you, including custom blocks.

*Some customers have requested that future version of EC Pro be able to rely solely on a network file for styles, thereby all members of the team can use the same style set. We are looking into this possibility.

Smart features

EC Pro has several smart features built in to save you time and eliminate errors:

Instead of typing an elevation, you can select the text of a label to extract the elevation. Or even pick a point, line, polyline, 3D polyline, etc. and extrapolate the elevation. If the text object you select has multiple numbers, EC Pro will prompt you with a list so you can select the correct elevation.
Labels will automatically flip from left to right according to the "quadrant" you place the label. Need a label to stay left when you place it in the upper-right quadrant? Simply tap the TAB button to lock it to the Left. Tap TAB a few times to get to Right, Up, and Down. TAB one more time to go back to Auto.
You can also control the Slope label. Tapping one of the options on the command line will flip, rotate, invert and redraw the label. You can even erase it on the fly eliminating the need to go back and delete it later if it's not needed.
When you use a style that references a Multileader, Dimension, or Text Style not in the current drawing it will attempt to load it from the INI file automatically for you. Likewise, if you specify a layer in the style, it will create one if it doesn't exist.

Update notifications

EC Pro includes an automatic update notification and download feature. It's completely automatic and will replace your version and reload on the fly. No need to mess with download files, installers, and file permissions. You set the frequency of notifications. You initiate the update. EC Pro takes care of the rest.

You can also choose to download the latest Beta version, which is tested but still may contain some bugs or unfinished features. Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

Licensing and Download

We hate when companies hide their licensing fees in endless webpages or requiring an email address or a sales call. We put our costs right up front!

Annual licenses start when your activation code is issued.
Reissue of licenses for loss due to computer failure limited only to Personal Lifetime licenses and only once per year, and 5 times max total.
Personal licenses are tied to the computer installed and limited to one installation only.
Corporate (or Site) licenses are tied to a corporate domain. All computers using the license must be joined to the domain at all times. Remote or home users will need to purchase a Personal license or use the Free Lifetime license.
If your license expires, you will revert to the Free Lifetime License! None of your styles will be lost, you just won't be able to use them again until you upgrade your license again.

To purchase a license, first download the program and install. Then run the registration command (type EC-REGISTER on the AutoCAD commandline) and follow the instructions. You will need to email the registration file. We will contact you for payment. Once you obtain the activation code, type EC-ACTIVATE and enter the code. Then your program will be fully unlocked and ready to go.

Use EC Pro in basic mode without access to saving and restoring styles. Also multileader labels are prohibited... But it's free!
