About me

Dr. Newton Nath is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi. His research interests lie in particle physics, with a particular focus on neutrino phenomenology, dark sector particles including axions/ALPs, dark matter, and dark photons, primordial black holes (PBHs), and physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM).

Dr. Nath was born and brought up in Lala, a small town in the Hailakandi district of Assam, where he completed his schooling. He pursued his higher secondary education and earned his B.Sc. in Physics from Gurucharan College, Silchar. He then moved to Hyderabad to pursue his M.Sc. in Physics at the University of Hyderabad.

He obtained his Ph.D. degree from the Physical Research Laboratory Ahmedabad, in 2017. Following his doctorate, he held postdoctoral research positions at several leading international institutions, including the Instituto de Física Corpuscular (IFIC), Valencia, Spain; the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN), Bari, Italy, as an INFN Fellow; the Instituto de Física, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (IFUNAM), Mexico City, Mexico; and the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP), Beijing, China. During these appointments, he developed extensive expertise in neutrino physics and dark sector phenomenology, contributing to several aspects of physics beyond the Standard Model.
