Dr. Newton Nath is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi. His research focuses on particle physics, with particular emphasis on neutrino phenomenology, dark sector particles like axion, axion-like particle, dark matter, dark photon, primordial black holes (PBHs), and physics beyond the Standard Model. He completed his PhD from the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), Ahmedabad, in 2017 and subsequently held postdoctoral research positions at several leading international institutions in Spain (IFIC Valencia), Italy (INFN Fellow at INFN Bari), Mexico (IFUNAM Mexico City), and China (IHEP Beijing), where he made significant contributions to the fields of neutrino physics and dark sector phenomenology.
Dr. Nath's research lies at the interface of particle physics, cosmology, and astroparticle physics. His work explores the fundamental properties of neutrinos and their implications for physics beyond the Standard Model, while also investigating the nature of dark matter and other weakly interacting particles that may constitute the dark sector. His interests include the study of possible dark matter candidates such as axions/ALPs, WIMPs, Primordial Black Holes etc. and their cosmological and astrophysical consequences.He interplay between particle physics and cosmology through precision observations, aiming to constrain new physics using data from cosmological surveys, astrophysical observations, and laboratory experiments. By combining theoretical modeling with phenomenological analyses.
