Workshop on Computational Oncology (WoCON) -2024 will be held in IIT (BHU). This is an interdisciplinary event focusing on large-scale data analysis in cancer biology. WoCON-2024 is designed to bring together leading researchers in bioinformatics, computational, experimental and clinical biology to discuss emerging frontiers in cancer research, and to foster new collaborations among the interdisciplinary biologists in India. WoCON-2024 is a two day event, having speakers with diverse backgrounds and expertise, aims to provide the audience with a broader range of perspectives. This diversity of thought can enrich the event experience and offer unique insights. Poster presentations are also opened to researchers and students. Posters will be selected by a scientific board composed of interdisciplinary researchers from IIT (BHU) Varanasi and IISc Bengaluru. This event will be conductive for informal exchanges between participants, to encourage scientific discussions and foster new collaboration.
WoCON-2024 invites contributions in all areas of computational, experimental and clinical cancer biology. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
● Cancer genomics, transcriptomics and epigenomics
● Single-cell and spatial sequencing technologies
● Functional and systems biology
● Immunotherapy
● Mathematical modeling of cancer
● Organoids and Organ-on-a-chip models
● Digital pathology
● Tumor microenvironment
● Cancer evolution
ORGANIZERS
The Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) Varanasi, is situated in the magnificent campus of Banaras Hindu University at the southern end of the ancient city of Varanasi on the banks of the holy river Ganga. The institute aspires to be a harbinger of modern interdisciplinary technological advancement in the country and at a forefront of imparting quality education by use a innovation pedagogy culminating traditional with contemporary methods. IIT (BHU) completed its 100 years in 2019, and we wish to take forward the legacy with rejuvenated vigor and sheer dedication with a commitment to nation building. The Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) Varanasi owes its existence to Bharat Ratna Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, the founder of the first residential University of modern India, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), who could foresee the vital role of technical education in strengthening independent India.
The Param Hansa Centre for Computational Oncology (PHCCO) at IISc Bengaluru fosters research in predictive and quantitative mathematical models of cancer progression, metastasis, and tumour relapse, to identify the underlying fundamental dynamics of these multi-scale processes, and eventually to improve patient outcomes in the clinic. It aims to seed and nurture an active community of future leaders in computational oncology in India through inter-institutional, cross-disciplinary collaborations among researchers in academia, medicine, and industry.
