With the NCAA DI Individual tournament pilot happening In the fall, there is no Superbowl or advancement from the ITA Cup to another event.
Arrival Time/Check-In: Please schedule your travel plans so that you arrive in Rome, Georgia no later than 5 pm on Wednesday, October 9th, so that your player(s) may check-in. Players & Coaches will be able to check-in between 11 am - 5 pm on Wednesday, October 9th, at the Rome Tennis Center. If your program is unable to make check in, please notify Lizzie Conti (econti@itatennis.com). Coaches will not be eligible for the complimentary participant gift, players only. Tournament play may begin as early as 8:00 am on Thursday, Oct. 10th. A complete schedule of play, draws and times will also be sent to participants the week leading up to the event.
ITA Coaches Meeting: This mandatory meeting will be held virtually at 1:00 PM EST (10:00 AM PST) on Monday, October 7th in advance of the tournament. This meeting will last approximately 30 minutes.
Practice Courts: Practice courts are located at the Rome Tennis Center and are first come first serve. Courts will be available free of charge from 9 am – 9 pm on Wednesday, October 9th. With 40+ outdoor courts on site, court space should not be an issue.
Trainers: There will be a certified athletic trainer on-site at the Rome Tennis Center Wednesday through Sunday, beginning 1 hour prior to the start of play through the completion of play each day.
Stringer: A stringer will be available on site throughout the event. Stringing labor is $20 per racquet. Contact Rome Tennis Center (706-236-4490) for more details.
Format: All singles matches are best 2-out-of-3 sets, no-ad scoring with a tie break at 6-games all. All doubles matches will be best 2-out-of-3 sets, no-ad scoring with a match tie-break played in lieu of the third set. Divisional doubles finals will be best 2-out-of-3 sets. All JUCO matches will play with regular scoring.
Ball Use: Dunlop Grand Prix Extra Duty balls will be used. One can per two sets (singles and doubles) with a new can of balls for third sets. No new balls will be given for 3rd set match tie breaks. Please bring practice balls for the first day (Wednesday/Thursday). We will collect practice balls after matches are completed Thursday-Sunday. Due to limited supply, we will not be able to provide complimentary cans for practice.
NCAA Dates of Comp: For both DII and DIII, the NCAA views the progression from ITA Regionals to ITA Cup as one event—and hence one date of competition for the player(s) involved. With regards to playing season, a SA may practice for the ITA Cup even if this event falls outside of your declared playing season segment. This is only for SAs who qualify for the above events.
Games Committee: The committee will consist of divisional operating committee members who are present, the tournament director, the head referee & ITA staff on site.
