Player Eligibility:
Players must be 18 years of age prior to participating in the USTA Tri-Level League program.
Any individual who progresses to championship level in the USTA Tri-Level League Tennis Program must be a USTA current member through each championship progression.
Combined NTRP rating levels between partners shall not exceed a .5 difference in players, i.e. a 3.5 can play up on the 4.0 line but not on the 4.5 line.
A retired match shall count for all players involved. USTA Regulation 2.03A(3) 2024 National Regulations 8.21.23 (usta.com).
MATCH REQUIREMENTS:
A player is eligible to advance to the Sectional Invitational competition if that player has played on that same team in at least two (2) matches during the local league season. A maximum of one (1) default received by the player during local league competition shall count for advancing.
TEAM ELIGIBILITY:
A minimum of six (6) team members who were on the final roster of their local league team at the conclusion of local league play, must be available and eligible to compete. The combined NTRP rating levels of the double’s team cannot exceed the NTRP level in which the players are competing.
Teams that do not have the minimum number of players required at the start of the Championship are subject to a Championship Grievance being filed by the Championship Committee.
DIFFERENT NTRP LEVELS:
As USTA National does not permit players to play on multiple teams at the 2024 National Invitational held in 2025, USTA Intermountain will be following this same rule for all of our 2024 Tri Level Sectional Invitationals. See below for a screenshot from the National Tri Level Fact Sheet.
Therefore, a player who qualifies to advance to any Tri Level Sectional Invitational for two or more teams at different NTRP levels, must declare which team he or she will represent at the Tri Level Sectional Invitational. In the absence of a declaration, the first match played will determine which team he or she will represent. If a player plays on both teams, the player’s matches played for the second team will be deemed ineligible. The scoring will be handled in the following way per the official USTA National Q and A. The ineligible player will be marked as “DQ and Ineligible” by the Tournament Director. In TennisLink, the Tournament Director will select the (1) DQ box, which will reverse the match results, and (2) the Ineligible box which will remove the match played from the ineligible player and their partner but will leave it as a match played for their opponents.
PLAYER ID CHECK:
Tournament staff may conduct random checks of player ID at time of check-in for matches. Be sure your players know to have ID with them at all times. If the player is without ID when asked for it he/she will be asked to provide it before they can be sent on the court.
