The personal project is an important part of the MYP and consists of a long-term piece of work that you will complete independently in grade 10.
The aims of the personal project are to allow you to:
Demonstrate the personal abilities and skills required to produce and present an extended piece of work
Demonstrate the learning skills that you have acquired so far in the MYP
Engage in personal inquiry, action and reflection on specific topics and issues
Focus on, and demonstrate an understanding of global contexts
Reflect on learning and share knowledge, views and opinions
Your personal project consists of four main elements:
The process journal
The product or outcome
The report
The personal project fair
To satisfactorily complete the MYP Programme at ISZL you need to achieve a grade of at least a 3 for your personal project. This grade will appear on your report card. However, to successfully gain the skills for writing large, structured reports and essays you should be aiming to achieve a grade 4 or higher. If you receive a failing grade you will find that you are asked to improve and resubmit your report.
There is a personal project class on Schoology where you will find all the information and documentation you need, including deadlines. You will also be using ManageBac and GoogleDocs to help you organise and record aspects of your personal project, including the Academic Honesty form. You need to fill in the Academic Honesty form following each of your three compulsory meetings with your supervisor. All other meetings should be recorded in your process journal.
