Central Visayas, officially designated as Region VII, is an administrative region in the Philippines occupying the central section of the Visayas. It covers 4 provinces, namely, Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor, as well as 3 highly urbanized cities. The regional center is the City of Cebu.
Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 8,081,988. This represented 39.26% of the overall population of the Visayas island group, or 7.41% of the entire population of the Philippines. Based on these figures, the population density is computed at 509 inhabitants per square kilometer or 1,319 inhabitants per square mile.
Central Visayas is bordered, clockwise from the North, by the Visayan Sea, Camotes Sea, Canigao Channel, Bohol Sea, Dipolog Strait, Sulu Sea, Western Visayas, and the Tañon Strait.

According to the 2015 Census, the age group with the highest population in Central Visayas is 5 to 9, with 805,114 individuals. Conversely, the age group with the lowest population is 80 and over, with 69,764 individuals.

Combining age groups together, those aged 14 and below, consisting of the young dependent population which include infants/babies, children and young adolescents/teenagers, make up an aggregate of 32.31% (2,389,624). Those aged 15 up to 64, roughly, the economically active population and actual or potential members of the work force, constitute a total of 62.25% (4,604,455). Finally, old dependent population consisting of the senior citizens, those aged 65 and over, total 5.45% (402,819) in all.
