ISU Sustainability Club

Tune into our co-sponsored show with Portneuf Resource Council, Sustainable Idaho on KISU Tuesday Mornings!

"Resistance is first of all a matter of principle and a way to live, to make yourself one small republic of unconquered spirit. You hope for results, but you don't depend on them." Rebecca Solnit

We know that our resistance to environmental exploitation is paramount. The condition of the natural world necessitates that we stand with sustainable practices. Let's continue our work of preserving, protecting, and connecting with the natural world.

Purpose

We work to establish and strengthen campus environmental consciousness and community among faculty, staff and students. The purpose of this club is to promote sustainability across Idaho State University campus and the Pocatello-Chubbuck Community. We intentionally work to include all University disciplines and maintain an optimistic and realistic perspective with regard to the condition of our planet.

Our Passion for Sustainability at ISU

The ISU Sustainability Club has been in existence since the fall of 2018. With growing interest from ISU students, we became an official ISU club in January 2020. We have been working with our ISU Presidents to make ISU a more resilient campus.

Beginning in June of 2020, we partnered with KISU and the Portneuf Resource Council to fund two ISU intern hosts for Sustainable Idaho. Airing once a week, the show discusses a variety of sustainability issues of interest to the ISU community as well as Idaho at large; it raises awareness of topics such as water, energy, agriculture, and climate.

Membership in our club includes students of all backgrounds who have a passion for sustainability. We look forward to continue to grow and succeed in the years to come.

Our radio show, Sustainable Idaho, on KISU will start up again in mid October. Click below to hear past episodes. If you are interested in being a paid host intern for the show and creating episodes, write to us at SustainableClub@isu.edu. Openings in May.
