A Word From Our Director,

Dear ISSEA Athletes,

Welcome to ISSEA Volleyball 2022! As hosts of the first ISSEA event since 2020, we are so excited to welcome all of the visiting schools to IST. Over the course of the pandemic, we have all had to make a number of changes to our lives. This has been a very difficult time for everyone, and I know how hard it has been for many of our ISSEA athletes who have been unable to participate in these experiences. ISSEA events have always brought a strong sense of enthusiasm, positivity and camaraderie to the lives of our schools. As we reconvene for the first time, I hope that we each reflect on these unique weekends, and take full advantage of the opportunity to travel, compete, and create connections with your teammates and competitors. I know that for many of our past students, ISSEA events are some of the fondest memories they have of their school experience. We could not be more enthusiastic about the chance to host this special event, and to give each of you the chance to be part of a great event, and to make memories here that will last you a lifetime.

Karibu kwenye mashindano ya mpira wa wavu!

Welcome to the International School of Tanganyika and this year's ISSEA Volleyball Competition. We are proud to host this year's event, the first in person tournament since before the start of the COVID pandemic. This year's tournament is the inaugural event in our new athletic centre, which we are so very proud to show off. We will make every effort to ensure that each one of you has a memorable experience. Our community is looking forward to providing the competitors and coaches with warm hospitality, the ideal conditions for the competition, and the opportunity to build new friendships.

In the days leading up to the event and up until the start of the first match, each of you has high hopes and dreams of team medals. This can be the payoff after the hours of training that you have put in over the past few months. We also know that from ISSEA events stories are created about the bonds that are formed with teammates and you learn more about the host school and country. Oftentimes the stories that form outside of the gym become the ones you'll laugh about in the years to come. The combination of competition and relationship building lead to the beauty of ISSEA.

For the IST community and the visiting teams, We wish everyone the best in this year's tournament. We all want to leave on Sunday with fond memories of ISSEA Volleyball 2022.

Sincerely,

Blair Peterson

And Athletics Director.

Welcome Athletes and Coaches!

IST is thrilled to be hosting the first ISSEA event in almost two years and also to have the opportunity to do so in our new Athletic Center

A lot of effort and planning goes into these events so I wanted to say a special thank you to several student groups that have already put in so much time and effort in the lead-up to this event: IST Student Council, Tech Team, Grade 12 Ambassadors, Student Band & Choir groups, the emcees, and, of course, our Twiga mascot.

Best of luck to all of the teams and we look forward to seeing you in Dar es Salaam soon!
