Sakura Medal Reading Programme
The program consists of eight book categories that students from different age groups read books from. Students read books from all of the different catergories and have the chance to vote for their favourite book from each category.
Students who are able to demonstrate that they have a good understanding of the books they have read have the chance to be entered into a Sakura Medal Book Bowl Competition.
Schools across Japan then compete against each other to see whose school team remembers the most information from the books they have read.
