ISSA Overview

Whether you are exploring a career in cybersecurity, honing your technical expertise or an established security executive, the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) offers you a network of 10,000 colleagues worldwide and hundreds locally in the Greater Milwaukee Area to support you in managing technology risk and protecting critical information and infrastructure.

The Milwaukee Chapter was founded in 2005 & was known as the Wisconsin Chapter from 2018 to 2023.

Chapter Board & Officer Roles

Everything we accomplish is because of the effort of members that volunteer to serve as officers and as members of working committees. Officers serve a 2 year term with the election process beginning in January of odd number years. Board Members chair various working committees that support the following areas:

Membership recruiting, attendance/CEU credits & officer recruiting
Speaker program topic management & scheduling
Sponsor recruitment & briefing scheduling
Communication, marketing & partner associations/events

Call for Volunteers

If you're interested in serving on a committee please reach out directly to the committee chair. Anyone that wants to become a Board Member or Officer, please contact the Chapter Vice President. The Board can fill openings by appointment outside the regular election cycle so don't wait if you're thinking about it. We are encouraging anyone that wants to become an Officer to start out as a Board Member first so they can "learn the ropes" and support a process that helps us maintain a sustainable leadership. We expect a time commitment of a couple of hours per week depending on the role. You can get credits for maintaining your certifications and it is a great way to network and enhance your career.
