High School Team is composed of up to four students. Each school may send two teams to the The Quill Regional Competition. The Varsity team is comprised of students from grades 9-12. Each student on the team will compete independently by responding to a prompt from one of four text types. One student per prompt per team. Players will be presented with a prompt from their assigned text type. Students will then have 90 minutes to create their best-written responses.

Written products are submitted to NCASA using a new Google form. NCASA processes these and sends them out to the judges who are made up of representatives from member schools. Judges have about 5 days to score the submissions and return them to NCASA. Scores are processed and results are shared with all schools.
The Google form will collect information to uniquely identify each participating student. A text box in the form will be used for students to draft and submit their work. No electronic or online resources may be used by students during the competition. Scratch paper and an actual (not online) dictionary and thesaurus may be used by students. Use of this form will level the playing field to make sure each student has no online assistance to create their submission. The new Google form will be shared with everyone in September so students can be familiar with the form and even complete it with dummy submissions prior to the competition.
