Personal Project

What is the Personal Project?

The Personal Project is a student-centered exploration through a cycle of inquiry, action and reflection, which allows students to consolidate their learning throughout the programme with a specific learning and product goal. This capstone project should revolve around a challenge that motivates and interests the individual student. Designed as an independent learning experience of approximately 25 hours, students collect evidence of their process and reflect on the impact of the overall project. In the past, South Iredell students have done everything from learning to sew stuffed animals for local foster children to researching their family's culture and creating a cookbook with family recipes. The personal project assesses students' Approaches to Learning skills for self-management, research, communication, critical and creative thinking, and collaboration while encouraging students to practice and strengthen these skills, to connect classroom learning engagements with personal experience, as they develop their own interests for lifelong learning.

*Students are REQUIRED to do a Personal Project in order to successfully complete the IB Middle Years Programme at South Iredell High School and to continue to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) or Career Related Programme (CP).
