WorkKeys is an ACT assessment that is administered to all North Carolina 12th-grade CTE completers. A CTE completer is a student who has completed a Level II (concentrator) course and completed a Career Pathway. The WorkKeys test measures “real-world” skills that are critical to job success. These skills are essential to any occupation, skilled or professional, at any level of education and in any industry. CTE Completers take the following three WorkKeys tests:
Workplace Documents
Applied Mathematics
Graphic Literacy
By taking the WorkKeys tests, students can earn a National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC). NCRCs are awarded at four different levels: bronze, silver, gold, and platinum. For questions on whether your child is eligible to take the WorkKeys test, please contact Tom Schwartz - tom_schwartz@iss.k12.nc.us.
While many people know the ASVAB is a test used for military enlistment and classification, the "student" ASVAB is also a great career assessment tool that can help you identify which career areas best suit you. This test will provide great insight into skills and abilities for College or career planning purposes and assist in making decisions about future plans. The military also uses this test to help assign recruits to career fields for which they are well-suited. The ASVAB Test is administered at Lake Norman High at NO COST each semester. Interested in learning more about the ASVAB - please contact Tom Schwartz - tom_schwartz@iss.k12.nc.us.
