Lesson 1

Color Wheel and color mixing

The color wheel has 3 primary colors-red, yellow, and blue. When the primary colors are mixed together they create secondary colors-orange, green, and purple.

You can also separate the coloring into "warm colors" (yellow, red, orange)

and "cool colors" (blue, green, violet).

Lesson 2

Painting with Coffee

For this project you will be able to experiment with a different way to paint!

You can mix coffee with a little water and create a new way to add color to your paper.

"The Dot"

Check out this lesson on the drop down link to watch "The Dot" book.

Then create your own dots with items around your house.

Lesson 4

3D Paper DRawings

For this project you will be using paper to create three-dimensional drawings.

You will learn about lines, shapes, and forms (which are 3D shapes).

Supplies:

Paper (cut into strips)

Scissors

Tape, Glue, or Glue stick

Pencil

Lesson 5

Shadow puppets

For this project you will be creating shadow puppets.

Materials:

Paper
Scissors
Tape
Light
Base (pencil, straw, pipe cleaner, popsicle stick, etc)

*You can also just use your own hands to create shadows*

Steps:

Watch Ms. Shook's video on how to create paper shadow puppets.
Watch the "OliveUS" video to see how to create shadow puppets with just your hands.
Create your shadow puppets! You can make a background, act out a story with them, or work together with other people to make your story.
Have fun!

Lesson 6

Sketchbook 5.1 Digital Art

For this project you will be creating digital art using Sketchpad 5.1

You will be able to experiment with a variety of tools to create your art.

Lesson 7

Texture Rubbings

For this project you will be creating texture rubbings.

Texture means the way things feel (ex-smooth, rough, bumpy, etc.)

Instructions:

Find items that have texture. You can go on a scavenger hunt around your house or outside.
Lay a piece of paper (thin paper works best) and rub crayons over the top.
You can mix crayon colors, overlap objects, add designs around your rubbings.

Lesson 8

MAsk Self portrait

For this project you will be creating a self portrait with your mask on and off. You can also add words or images about your personality to add to your portrait!

Art Time Machine

Explore at least 3 pieces of art or you can explore more!

Have fun in the time machine learning about art throughout history!

Lesson 10

Flip Drawings

For this project you will be creating flip drawings!

You will create a different design on each section (head, body, feet) and then you can flip the different pages to see what creatures you can create.

This is only for our *Virtual Students* but younger siblings or family members can participate as well.

For this project you will be creating art based on the book "Dragons Love Tacos" by Adam Rubin and Illustrated by Daniel Salmieri.

Lesson 13

Weave Silk

This is a very relaxing way to create art online. Create different types of art by changing the symmetry and mixing different colors.

Lesson 14

Turkey in disguise

For this project you will be coming up with a way to create a clever disguise for your turkey.

Is your turkey hiding in a crayon box? Is it dressed up as a character? Does your turkey have a job or uniform? The possibilities are endless!

You can use the turkey template below or create your own turkey drawing.

You can color on top of your turkey or cut and glue items on top of it.

You can use the Turkey template below to print out and create your disguise or you can draw your own turkey!

Lesson 15

"Snowmen at night"

Read the book "Snowmen at Night" by Caralyn Buehner and illustrated by Mark Buehner.

2. Imagine and think of ideas of what you would want a snowman to do at night?

3. Create your own picture of what your snowman would do if it could go out.

Lesson 16

"Lego Self Portrait"

What would you look like if you could draw a picture of yourself as a Lego person?

What outfit and shoes would you have on? What would you have in the background? You can add a car, a basketball goal, a lego pet, or your favorite place.

Create a Lego style person that represents you and your personality.

Lesson 17

Sweater Designs

Imagine you have a job as a fashion designer and you are creating sweater designs.

What patterns could you use?

What pictures could you put on there?

What colors would you use to finish it?

Lesson 18

Silly Drawings

For this project you will use your imagination to pick a silly drawing idea and create it on your artwork. Use the list on the lesson page to choose which drawing or drawings you would like to create.

Directions:

1.Choose your idea(s) or come up with your own ideas.

2. Draw your picture and you can add more details to it.

3. Color your drawing

For this project you will be creating art on the theme "I am strong because..."

Doodle 4 Google is an optional art contest that came up with this theme for their 2021 contest.

On their website and below is more information if you'd like to participate.

You can still create a picture using this theme even if you choose not to participate in the contest.

For this lesson you can draw several of the same shape or print the images below.

Turn each shape into a different picture! Can you fill them all and add color?
