Sorif Hossain is now working as a lecturer in the Department of Statistics at Noakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh. He obtained Masters’s and Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh with a concentration in Applied Statistics. He got the “Deans Award” and “Kazi Motahar Hossain Foundation Award” for his outstanding academic performance. He has around two years of experience in Applied Statistics along with strong theoretical knowledge through his 5 years of academic accomplishments. As an academician and practitioner, he conducted several types of research in the field of public health and environmental sciences and spoke at a number of international workshops and conferences (ISCB40, Belgium, Queen Mary University of London). Moreover, he also worked as a reviewer for different publishers such as Springer, Elsevier, BMJ Open, BMC, Nature and so on.
He started his professional career in 2018 as a Statistician at Eusuf and Associates, and then worked as a Research Assistant at MOMODa FOUNDATION in 2019. He also worked as an officer (research and knowledge management) at DM WATCH, and afterwards joined as a Senior Research Assistant at James P Grant School of Public Health. In 2020, he also worked as a Data Scientist at Insightin Technology Bangladesh Limited.
He is also very proficient in machine learning modeling, missing data handling, and has a very strong background in statistical software like Python, R, STATA, and SPSS. He has hands-on experience in managing statistical software for solving statistical problems and the ability to design inferential models for analysis. Familiarity with analyzing complex statistics and performing academic research. Furthermore, he is also interested in Medical Statistics, Clinical Trials, Public health, Epidemiology, Statistics, Biostatistics, Health Economics, Environmental Health, and Artificial Intelligence. He always accepts the opportunity to improve his skills by adopting any advanced learning.
