Welcome to my website!
I am an assistant professor of Economics at Austin College. I received my Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from the University of Memphis, following my earlier academic pursuits that led to a B.S. and an M.S. in Applied Statistics from the University of Dhaka. I have a demonstrated history of research and teaching (13+ years) in the higher education industry.
My broad research area is applied microeconomics, with primary interests in Health Economics, Labor Economics, and Public Policy. One strand of my research studies how health investments in infants and toddlers affect human capital and behavioral outcomes in the short and long term, spanning early childhood through early adulthood. The other strand of my research focuses on generating policy-relevant evidence on reducing malnutrition among women of childbearing age in developing countries. I examine the socioeconomic inequalities and the geographic and racial disparities in health outcomes and healthcare utilization. My research also focuses on how public policies affect the labor market, health outcomes, and healthcare utilization. Additionally, using machine learning and advanced statistical and econometric techniques to tackle real-life issues in a data-driven manner is a cause that I am passionate about.
My publications appear in well-regarded journals. Additionally, I presented my research at the American Economic Association, American Society of Health Economists, and other leading economics conferences. I am currently serving on the editorial boards of Health Economics and Health Sciences sections of PLOS ONE and Frontiers in Public Health.
