When students are not able to return to ISP, the teachers will continue to provide the learning materials available to students in school. Learning continues to emphasise interaction, inquiry, response, practice and creativity, which may be difficult for students not in school.
Online/Home Learning in the DP is intended to provide learning materials and assessment opportunities that follow the current written course outlines and IB DP syllabi in order to maintain learning and readiness for internal and external assessments.
Learning materials are shared via ManageBac and may include links to materials on other platforms that are currently used, such as Google Classroom and Google Drive.
Learning activities are engaging, inquiry-based explorations
Learning activities have a number of purposes:
allow students to engage with new learning
practice, discuss or apply learning
demonstrate knowledge and skills in relation to learning
Learning connects to current units and curriculum.
Assessment tasks enable student to demonstrate their understanding.
Students in school and teachers will follow the normal timetable and will attend classes as per their usual routine. Teachers will publish materials and work on ManageBac for students who are not in school, together with deadlines for the completion of the work.
Establish a daily routine to support your learning.
Identify a comfortable, quiet space so you can work effectively and successfully.
Check your email and ManageBac daily.
Either connect to Zoom using the link that is provided on ManageBac or follow the instructions that are given to you by your teacher. You can find the Zoom link for each teacher on the overview page for each class. The link is at the very bottom of the page on the right hand side.

Communicate with your friends, classmates and homeroom group regularly via email.
Be mindful of your workload and wellbeing. If you have any concerns, contact your homeroom teacher or counsellor.

Check in regularly with each student by email or Managebac.
Engage with parent and student requests for information and support.

Be aware that some students may not be present but will be engaging with learning from home.
Check the student status list for those that are absent.
Post learning materials for the lessons scheduled for the classes you teach at the end of each lesson so that Home Learning students can access these.
All work should be communicated and posted through ManageBac, with potential links to resources on Google Drive. If the class normally uses Google Classroom, then this can continue - please just indicate your daily communication with a link through ManageBac. Practical activities (e.g. Science, PHE, Arts, Design) are likely to be suspended for absent students, so students should be guided towards assignments and learning that will concentrate on other criteria for these subjects.
You should always communicate through ManageBac messages on regularly scheduled class days. Please make sure that you Label the work clearly: Home Learning Mar 10, period 4 (date for the class and period).
We ask that teachers allow students to Zoom into the lesson. They should ensure that the student has access to the sound and image of what is happening, and that they can interact with the class as much as possible.
Email students on ManageBac before class to let them know if you are connecting on Zoom. If you are not, please give alternative instructions about how students can access their learning.
All work should be communicated to students (and the option to send notifications to students and parents should NOT be clicked unless the message is for ALL students in the group) through ManageBac messages. If you are linking to another platform, the link should be in the message.
Give a clear timeline and deadline for submission. You should be clear and explicit about what needs to be completed or submitted for a class period when posting the Home Learning assignments on ManageBac messages. If you need to, you should set a task on ManageBac for submission.
Indicate the time it should take to complete the assignment.
Plan learning activities that are easily understood and implemented by students.
Provide regular reflection and feedback in ManageBac.
Post summative assessments on the ManageBac Assignment calendar so colleagues, students and parents can all see them and plan workload accordingly.
Assessment & feedback: As normal within reason, must be marked summative or formative.
Follow the current ISP assessment practices, including advance notice for assessments.
Comply with ISP expectations for online etiquette. See the ISP Online Learning Responsible User Agreement
Student Absence Protocol
Take your attendance in each lesson as normal:
Students who are not in school will either be marked:
a) BLANK - mark them present if they are there, and absent (N) if they are not
b) B - they are absent because of COVID but are able to work
c) Other absent - they are absent and not able to work
In the case of (b) and (c) above, please change the absence to present if the student is there; do not overwrite the absence code of they are not
If students do not engage with online learning, the WBT will follow their normal procedures.
Guidelines for missed work:
For students who have failed to complete their learning tasks, please email to make sure they understand the work.
All emails to students should be sent in the spirit of support.
For summative assessments, please use the normal 48 hour extended deadline policy, but with discretion.
Check in regularly with their students.
Maintain regular communication with their classes.
