If you need to connect with resources in your community, but don’t know where to look, PA 211 is a great place to start. From help with a utilities bill, to housing assistance, after-school programs for kids, and more, you can dial 211 or text your zip code to 898-211 to talk with a resource specialist for free. Our specialists will listen to your needs, and give you information on programs in your community that might be able to help.
Are you struggling to pay your rent or utilities? If you need help paying your rent and/or your utility bills, you may be able to get money to pay for those expenses through the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP). Assistance is available to those who rent for unpaid bills owed on or after March 13, 2020.
ERAP can help eligible households pay rent and other bills that keep families in their home with working utilities. ERAP can help pay for:
Current rent, Past-due rent (arrears), Current balances and arrears for utilities such as:
Electricity
Gas
Water
Sewer
Trash removal
Energy costs (i.e. fuel oil)
Rental fees
Late fees
Any person responsible for paying rent can apply for ERAP. Your landlord does not have to participate for you to get help. ERAP can also help if you are experiencing homelessness and need assistance getting housing. ERAP can help eligible people pay for:
Moving expenses
Security deposits
Transitional hotel/motel stays
Future rent
Future utilities
Visit www.COMPASS.state.pa.us. You will be able to submit your application through COMPASS or, if your county is not participating in the COMPASS application, you will be automatically directed to your county's application process.
