Course Description
Join us on an exciting artistic adventure in the vibrant city of Prague! With no previous art experience required, all you need is your curiosity and a willingness to try something new. You'll explore different neighborhoods and hidden gems, sit in famous cafes and unique coffee shops, and even have the chance to meet some urban sketching artists. Get ready to fill up a small sketchbook with your drawings, doodles, and words as you capture the essence of Prague. This is slow-motion observation at its finest. You'll have plenty of time to look and listen, while enjoying tea or coffee and chatting with your classmates.
Each day, we'll focus on a different neighborhood or area of Prague with a different theme, from history to contemporary art. We'll wrap up the trip with a small exhibition and reception, where you can show off your artwork and celebrate your accomplishments.
ISP will provide sketchbooks and some drawing materials, as well as folding camp stools for sitting to draw. All you need to bring are comfortable walking shoes, Litacka or public transportation tickets, and a small amount of money for coffee/tea and lunches. Don't forget to bring your ISIC card and your phone or small camera to capture your favorite moments. Join us for a unique and unforgettable artistic adventure in the heart of Prague!

ISP Mission Links
This urban sketching activity in Prague is designed to meet all major areas of the ISP Mission. By inspiring, engaging, and empowering learners to be curious, competent, compassionate, and changemakers, we are helping students to develop skills that will last a lifetime.
We believe that cultivating the habit of observation, asking questions, enjoying experiences, and exploring the arts is essential to inspiring learners for life. Our exploration of art and community is all about what is fulfilling and purposeful to us. We encourage students to be present, focus on their surroundings, and observe the world around them in order to develop a sense of themselves and the world that is both healthy and fulfilling. During this activity, students will work cooperatively and independently. Each person will have an individual sketchbook, but we will also share sketchbooks to develop ideas together, have collaborative exercises, and prepare the exhibition.
At ISP, we believe in providing an authentic global education within a nurturing student-centered environment. This urban sketching activity is a hands-on approach to learning about ourselves through the process of observation, exploration, and sketching. Students will have the opportunity to play a role in decision-making during the trip, and daily reflections on learning will take place over tea or coffee and lunches. By engaging in this activity, students will develop their creativity, observation skills, and intercultural understanding.
