Course Description
The course Experience Modern Art – From Impressionism Up to This Day will introduce you to topics and methods used by artists from Impressionism up to this day. The course is fit for all those interested in learning about the artistic techniques and procedures of modern art, which can later be applied to one’s original work. The course consists of a combination of theoretical thematic introductions followed by practical application. Each participant will become acquainted with the selected art history chapters and will try out the techniques for him/herself. At the end of the course you will have a finished painting/sculpture to take home. The practical part of the course is focused mainly on original artistic expression, search for one’s originality, freedom and abstraction of expression. You do not need to be an artist to join, you just need to be willing to be creative and try out new things.

ISP Mission Links
Inspiring learners for life. It is all about asking questions, enjoying experiences and exploring the arts to draw one's own conclusions.
Healthy, fulfilling and purposeful. An exploration of art and community is all about what is fulfilling and purposeful to us. Reliance on one another both in learning and exploring our own views helps us to develop a sense of community that is both healthy and fulfilling.
Work Cooperatively and Independently. There will be several activities that require cooperation – from creating original works, developing ideas and preparing the exhibition.
An authentic global education within a nurturing student-centered environment. This is a hands-on approach to learning about ourselves during art making process. Students also play a role in decision making during the trip. Reflection on our own learning takes place on a daily basis as we share meals and discuss what we have done and what lies ahead.
