The Advanced Robotics Vex IQ course exposes students for the first time to the new prequel product line to VEX EDR called VEX IQ. VEX IQ allows students to push beyond LEGO into using a scratch like interface to code their virtual robot to solve obstacle courses and explore virtual worlds. The course instructs students from the website https://vr.vex.com/ using the award winning free software to allow them to code their virtual robot. The Advanced course uses Python Line Code and helps students develop their computation thinking to break coding problems into digestible parts to allow them to solve obstacle challenges.
This course is offered for five 1hr sessions M - F.
Students learn about autonomous programming and how to use sensors to allow their robot to see the world around them. The distance, color, touch, gyroscopic, and LED sensors are all covered. The course culminates in an internal Vex IQ virtual competition. Every student in Advanced Robotics Vex IQ will leave the course with confidence in their programming abilities as well as a realization that coding is fun and easy!
