The earth’s lungs
Why are trees so important?
Trees provide 70% of earth’s oxygen for us. So without trees there wouldn’t be enough oxygen for the whooping 8 billion people on earth (wow that’s a lot ) so, in conclusion, most of us would die. And that’s not all the superpowers trees have, they can also grow amazing plants that can help make médecine to cure illnesses like cancer. Wait There’s more, trees are homes to thousands of different animal species like koalas and pandas.
Human cause of deforestation
One of the main most humongous causes of deforestation is… palm oil. Now, you might not know what palm oil is, But if you eat Nutella with your pancakes every day that means you're eating food with palm oil in it. Now don't worry because Palm oil is in hundreds of different products we use every day, like shampoo, and crackers. palm oil is a big problem because it is used for so many products it is not as easy as it looks to stop using palm oil, companies need to find more natural and sustainable oils to replace palm oil. Now I'm gonna tell you the gruesome and shocking way palm oil is made.
Now, palm oil is only one of the causes of deforestation, sadly there are many more like farming. Farming is basically cutting down trees to grow crops like corn and hay so that the insane amount of cows all over the world can eat, and grow fat so that they can be killed to eat. This might not seem like a problem but because of overpopulation (which is another cause of deforestation ), there are millions of people to feed. In conclusion, there are too many people on the planet.
But there’s more, like mining, mining is having to cut down trees so that people can mine down deep into the earth for oil metal, industrial minerals, and coal.
How is palm oil made?
First, the workers will either cut down or burn palm oil trees depending on how much money they have. Then they plant palm oil trees where the other trees were cut down, To grow the palm oil fruit.

Effects of deforestation on the environment and us.
Deforestation is a BIG problem, and because of it, we are facing severe consequences. And in my opinion, one of the biggest problems is that trees breathe in carbon dioxide and breathe out oxygen. And as everyone already knows oxygen is a vital gas for us to live so without it we would all die. When trees are cut down they release the carbon dioxide they had breathed in, causing this CO2 to go into the atmosphere warming it up and causing climate change.
Problem number 2.
Wildlife, the ecosystem is so important and without it we couldn’t survive. Wildlife is many things like the environment and the animals that live in those environments. So if we're not careful with our beautiful forests we could face some big consequences. Without forests and natural environments, a lot of animals would disappear because most of the animals in the world need these environments and the resources they have in them to live. So without our ecosystems, we wouldn’t be able to survive.
Problem number 3.
Climate change, you might be thinking « how does deforestation relate to climate change?» well, when we cut down forests the trees release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere so it goes up into the ozone layer bouncing back to earth causing our planet to heat up. This is how climate change is related to deforestation, so we can all take action to save our planet.
Problem number 4.
This is my self-assessment, showing how I became an even more powerful communicator during the PYPx.
