National Junior Honor Society is a club for 8th graders who meet the membership requirements outlined below.
The application process occurs during the 4th quarter of 7th or 8th grade. 7th and 8th graders who achieve the scholarship requirement will receive a letter in the mail inviting them to join a Google Classroom and continue in the application process.

Scholarship Requirement
• CURRENT 8TH GRADERS: Achieve a 7 quarter average of at least 90%
• The 7 quarter average will be calculated by adding the 7 quarterly averages then dividing by 7
(the year before applying and the year applying)
• 8th Graders - We will look at quarterly averages for all of 7th grade and the first 3 quarters of 8th grade
• CURRENT 5TH, 6TH, & 7TH GRADERS: Achieve a 7 quarter average of at least 92%
• The 7 quarter average will be calculated by adding the 7 quarterly averages of 6th and 7th grade then dividing by 7
(the year before applying and the year applying)
School Engagement
• Students must show proof of participation in 2 school activities over 2 years:
• 2 clubs
• 1 club and 1 sport
*Students are not permitted to use 2 sports
*Students must participate in school activities.
*Outside clubs or activities will not be considered for application
Teacher Recommendations
• Students applying to NJHS will ask 4 teachers for recommendations
• Teachers will evaluate students’ demonstration of character and leadership
• Teachers, coaches, and club advisors from the current and previous year will fill out the forms
Behavior Requirements
• Behavior will be evaluated on a point system. Students who receive 5 points in the current school year will not be eligible for NJHS.
Points will be given on the following scale:
OSS = 5 points (automatically ineligible)
ISS = 3 points
Lunch Detention = 1 point
