Mr. Paletta’s Virtual Enterprise class recently attended the annual Youth Business Summit at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City on April 19, 2023. The event is the final in-person trade show of the year. Included were VE firms from all over the country with firms coming from California, North Carolina, Florida and Michigan to name a few. Firms from various parts of the world attended as well. Including firms from Brazil, Austria, Bulgaria and Indonesia were on hand.
The Island Trees firm CyberBox offers other VE firms a place to have a corporate retreat while using Virtual Reality experiences in team building activities and interactive gaming fun. CyberBox offers themed packages which include a lunchtime meal with foods inspired by the package chosen. The mission of the company is to give business the opportunity to gather their employees for a day of team building and gaming fun.
The CyberBox students started their day by jumping on the LIRR from Hicksville during the peak morning commute to Penn Station which was buzzing with activity. The group then traveled west on 34th Street walking to the West Side of Manhattan to the Jacob Javits Convention Center where they had to set up their trade booth and get ready for a busy day.
Trading started at 10am after the opening announcements. The Cyberbox employees spent the day taking orders and drumming up business. They also got the chance to explore the other booths and buy from VE firms from all over the world. CyberBox generated over $70,000.00 in sales through the VE networked banking system.
After a day of trading the team headed back to Penn Station for the commute home. The students stopped for some authentic NYC food, the street vendor hotdog. The day was long but productive and was a great learning experience for those that attended.
