The 2026 OEGlobal Conference invites the open community to cultivate new ways of safeguarding knowledge for the benefit of all. ... We recognize that invention is most powerfully sparked when different perspectives and practices intersect.
"Therefore, we look forward to a program that integrates the arts and sciences; Indigenous and Western knowledge systems; global and local viewpoints; research-based and lived experiences; and other open movements (open source software, open data, open access, open science) and open education."

ISKME Canada and BCcampus are organizing a satellite gathering in Vancouver BC for OEGlobal’s 2026 conference on October 7, 8, and 9.
Attendees will come together in person at The Permanent in downtown Vancouver to enjoy a combination of in-person programming and sessions livestreamed from the main event at MIT in Cambridge, MA. Registration is open!
Tickets: $80 for all 3 days or $30 per day, and includes breakfast and lunch for each registered day. A student discount is also available.

Originally constructed in 1907 for the BC Permanent & Loan Company, the building later became home to the Bank of Canada in 1935, leaving behind a remarkable architectural legacy that continues to define the space today. Fully restored in recent years, The Permanent has been thoughtfully reimagined as a vibrant heritage event venue, preserving its character while meeting the demands of contemporary events. As Internet Archive Canada's Vancouver Headquarters, The Permanent hosts a variety of events in service to the Open Access community year round.
