It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the SEA Forensics and Debate Tournament, hosted annually by the International School of Kuala Lumpur over many decades. The SEA tournament was the first forensics tournament in South East Asia, and is one of the largest tournaments of its kind in Asia, combining Malaysian and International Schools. It prides itself on providing training to competitors and coaches, regardless of their school affiliation.
7 minutes max.
The contestant prepares and presents a compelling speech, of either persuasive or informative nature. The oration can point out a problem and could present a solution or may simply point out a potential issue or struggle.
7 minutes max.
The contestant reads a passage from a poem or prose. Character development must be developed using only voice.
7 minutes max.
The contestant will be given ongoing current events topics in the form of a question. The contestant will be given 30 minutes to prepare after he has been given the question.
5 minutes max.
The contestant will be given a topic of light philosophical nature to talk about. The contestant will have one minute to plan his speech.
10 minutes max.
Two students present an excerpt from a play or from dialogue in another published literary work. NO props or costumes may be used except 2 chairs and 1 table.
7 minutes max.
The contestant acts a small part of a play or a small original piece. NO props or costumes may be used except 1 chair and 1 table.
