Welcome, ISSEA Schools, to the 2026 ISSEA STEAM Championships hosted by the International School of Kenya. Karibu Kenya!!
Karibu!
Welcome to ISK!
The International School of Kenya is delighted to welcome all ISSEA schools to our campus for the ISSEA STEAM event. It is a pleasure to host such a vibrant community of students and educators who share a passion for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
This event is a wonderful opportunity for collaboration, creativity, and discovery. Students will go head-to-head in high-energy Math Kahoots where quick thinking and number sense take center stage, cheer as engineered cars accelerate down the track in our drag racing competition, channel their inner detective as they analyze evidence and crack cases in forensics challenges, and showcase the ingenuity and problem-solving that goes into designing and programming robots that actually do what you want them to do (most of the time). Whether you're writing code, crunching numbers, dusting for fingerprints, or doing some last-minute fine-tuning, there is something here for every curious mind.
We hope your time at ISK will be inspiring, engaging, and filled with meaningful connections — and maybe a few friendly rivalries along the way.

Karibuni ISK. Welcome to Nairobi. Welcome to ISSEA STEAM.
It is an honour for the International School of Kenya to host this year’s ISSEA STEAM event - a celebration of curiosity, creativity, and the courage to imagine what does not yet exist.
STEAM is more than an acronym. It represents a way of thinking - where science meets imagination, where technology amplifies human potential, where engineering solves real problems, and where mathematics gives structure to possibility. At its heart, STEAM is about innovation: seeing challenges not as limits, but as invitations.
Here at ISK, innovation is rooted in inquiry, collaboration, and global-mindedness. Our students are encouraged not only to ask bold questions, but to prototype, test, refine, and try again. We believe learning is most powerful when it is hands-on, purposeful, and connected to the world around us. Innovation thrives when we collaborate — when diverse minds bring different perspectives to a shared challenge. Over several days, you will work alongside peers from across the region, learning from one another, stretching your thinking, and building ideas that are stronger because they are built together.
As you compete, create, and experiment, we hope you also take time to experience the richness of our ISK culture — its warmth, resilience, creativity, and hospitality. Here, we believe in welcoming guests not just to our school, but into our community.
May this ISSEA STEAM be filled with bold ideas, thoughtful risks, unexpected discoveries, and moments of joy. May you leave inspired not only by what you build, but by the people you build it with.
We are so glad you are here.
Karibuni sana — you are most welcome.

Welcome to ISSEA STEAM 2026!
It is a privilege for the International School of Kenya to host this year’s ISSEA STEAM event and to welcome you into a space where ideas and opportunities become prototypes, questions become investigations, and creativity is treated as a serious way of learning.
Hosting in Kenya feels especially fitting. Nairobi is a city shaped by entrepreneurs, engineers, artists, and problem-solvers, and our country continues to invest in innovation and sustainability through national efforts and community-driven solutions that respond to real needs. Kenya’s growing renewable energy sector, including world-leading geothermal power, also offers a powerful reminder that the future will be built by those who can design with both ingenuity and responsibility.
As a former design teacher, I am continually inspired by what students can do when they are trusted with meaningful challenges. When you apply empathy, test an idea, learn from what does not work, and improve your design, you are practicing the habits that drive real innovation. Here at ISK, we believe learning is strongest when it is hands on, collaborative, and connected to the world beyond our classrooms.
During ISSEA, you will work alongside peers from across the region, learning from one another and building solutions that are stronger because they reflect many perspectives. We hope you will also take time to experience the warmth and welcome of our school community, and the energy of our Lion Pride.
May your time at ISSEA STEAM be filled with brave ad creative thinking, purposeful making, and moments of discovery that stay with you long after you leave.
Karibuni Kenya!
