Students in PYP 4-5, MYP, and DP need to bring their own laptops to school. The laptop can be purchased from any dealer, as long as it meets the minimum requirements listed below. Please check dealer websites regularly as they sometimes have special offers. Some dealers offer the option to pay in installments. Here are some suggested dealers:
More information on laptop usage is provided in the Class Parent Orientation Meetings in August.
Important Note: A tablet or iPad is not sufficient for school use.
While teachers use a range of approaches to teaching, a laptop remains an essential tool for student learning. Without fully functioning laptops, students may not have access to all learning experiences. Students must at all times have a laptop that is in good working condition, charged and running. Students should bring their laptops in to school every day, unless otherwise specified by teachers. Chromebooks are not sufficient for use in the MYP. Devices must have the minimum specifications listed below to optimise learning in Middle School.
Size and weight
1.6 kilo or below preferred to be classified as an "Ultrabook" that can be easily carried
13.3" size preferred for most people. No more than 15 inches at the most; the smaller, the lighter the computer will be.
Screen Size
13 inches or more because it has to be a readable screen
Processor
Intel i5 preferred as these use the least amount of battery power
4 CPU Cores
RAM (Internal Memory)
8 GB or more. A computer with 4 GB will run slow and will not be a lasting solution.
128 GB total storage capacity
Hard Drive
SSD (Flash) or SSHD (Hybrid) required
Wireless
802.11AN or 802.11 AC - the "A"-part is important, meaning dual-band Wi-Fi, both 2GHz and 5GHz radio.
Warranty / insurance
(Highly recommended)
Damage protection insurance is recommended
Important: remember to go through the registration process to register the serial number of the computer in your name.
Laptop/Mobile location tracking (recommended):
For Mac users: sign up for an apple account https://www.icloud.com/ and enable “Find My Mac”
Adobe Reader: Available for free at www.adobe.com/download
We advise that valuable items are not taken into school. Home insurance needs to cover loss or damage to student valuables; the school does not have insurance for personal possessions.
The new school library was established in August 2015. Opening hours are posted outside the library and families are encouraged to utilize the space. Classes visit and borrow books on a weekly basis.
In order to maintain a high quality collection of library materials, library materials that are lost or damaged beyond repair will be billed for the cost of purchasing a new replacement.
The cost of replacement will be 150 DKK for books/materials, however if the lost/damaged book has a value of greater than 150DKK, the librarian will determine the appropriate fee. This fee covers the value of reordering the book or a similar replacement, as well as shipping, any customs and taxes, and in-house processing costs. If at a later date these costs are shown to be not sufficient to replace the value of the item lost, this cost of replacement may be subject to change.
The library is happy to accept a replacement copy, if that copy is the same as the title that was lost and is in new or “like new” condition. Condition to be approved by the librarian.
If the library book is found and returned to the library in good condition, the student can get a refund.
