Are you interested in supporting your child's learning, but not quite sure where to start? Tune in to The Library Loop. Mrs. Wingers and friends will share ideas, strategies, and tips, and explain why it will help your child in the present or the future.
Welcome to our library! Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions parents and families have about how the library works, what students learn, and how you can get involved.
Each class visits the library once a week during their scheduled library time. Students also have opportunities for special events, book fairs, and open library times.
The library program goes far beyond borrowing books. Students:
Develop a love of reading through choice, exploration, and book talks.
Build skills aligned with the AASL National School Library Standards and our school’s Graduate Profile.
Practice inquiry, research, collaboration, and digital citizenship in developmentally appropriate ways.
Engage in play-based, hands-on activities that foster curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
That’s okay! Re-reading beloved, familiar, or "easy" books builds fluency, confidence, and joy in reading. Choice is central to helping children develop lifelong reading habits.
Also okay! Children often pick books above their independent reading level out of curiosity or interest. They might look at pictures, skim, or ask for help. This is a natural and important part of growing as a reader. Younger students might choose books that are too hard in order to read with their family at home. Use this as a opportunity to build a family reading culture!
Checkout limits vary by grade level to support independence and responsibility. Younger students typically begin with fewer books and increase as they demonstrate readiness. KG1-Grade 2 check out two books each week, while grades 3-5 can check out three.
Books are checked out for one week and should be returned during the next library visit. Books can be renewed if students need more time. If children finish their books early, they can bring them back to the library and choose new books any day.
Families are asked to replace lost or damaged books so that all students can enjoy a full collection. Please reach out if you need guidance on replacement options.
Parent volunteers are always welcome! Opportunities include:
Helping with special events (Ramadan activities, Book Week, Battle of the Books).
Supporting book fairs.
Assisting with shelving and organizing.
Sharing cultural stories or guest read-alouds.
Please contact Mrs. Wingers if you’d like to get involved. (winge.c.03@isg.edu.sa)
Our library offers a diverse collection: picture books, early readers, chapter books, nonfiction, graphic novels, and more. We work to ensure representation of many cultures, experiences, and voices.
That’s completely normal at times. We encourage students to explore different genres, formats, and series. The library is a safe space to discover the joy of reading at their own pace, with gentle guidance.
Yes—special checkout opportunities are offered during longer breaks to encourage reading at home.
The library embodies our mission to inspire innovation and compassionate action. Students practice leadership, collaboration, curiosity, and respect for diverse perspectives every time they visit.
