We aim to allow students to discuss current world issues in a diplomatic environment, and reach an outcome of greater knowledge on politics, debating, and problem-solving approaches. We allow every student to be equally represented and heard, and to have a say in what happens next. This equips high school students - the future generation - to have the strength to go on and influence the world around them.
This starts by assigning delegates with a relevant world issue, along with a delegation that they must represent, regardless of their own personal opinion on the matter. What follows is a heated and productive discussion of the issue with other delegates through moderated debate. This allows students to further comprehend other nations' points of view, as well as the complexity and unity required to solve a current world issue with many parties involved.
This year, in DAMMUN VII, we bring forth issues from around the world in order to give students insight into events of the present and possible events of the future.
