Option 1: Diamond hill - Chi lin nunnery - http://www.chilin.org/ - blue line to admiralty, red line to mong kok, green line to diamond hill
Option 2: Nam Sang Wai Wetlands
Yuen Long
Located between the Shan Pui and Kam Tin rivers, the Nam Sang Wai wetlands are home to countless flora and fauna. A green dream, the area is the perfect place for anyone looking to reconnect with nature. There are corridors of eucalyptus trees, spots to watch migrating birds, fields of reeds, otters in the ponds and much more. Bring along homemade food and enjoy a rustic picnic. In recent years, there have been bids for property development in the area, so take the chance to see the picturesque views before the developers come knocking again.
Ping Shan Heritage Trail
Yuen Long
This one’s for the history buffs. This extensive trail takes you through 10 significant landmarks and well-preserved heritage sites in the Ping Shan area. Take a journey to the past and see echoes of the humble market village via the centuries-old ancestral halls, declared monuments and historic temples.
Itineraries
10,000 Buddhas Monastery
Sha Tin
This one’s a feast for the eyes and a free workout. The 431 steps leading up to the monastery are lined with life-sized, gold-painted Buddha statues, each entertainingly unique. Once you reach the temple complex, also known as Man Fat Sze, you’ll be dazzled by 12,000 more gilded statues, as well as gorgeous pavilions and a crimson pagoda – not to mention the Instagram-worthy panorama of Sha Tin and its mountainous surrounds.
Bus from devoux road to hung hom. Train to Sha Tin.
And then go to Kowloon City - the walled city

Sheung wan is in Central area (15 minute taxi or 25 minute bus ride to work) – cool cafes, lots of small streets, good for walking, close to restaurants and bars in Central.
Work is located in Pok Fu Lam area.
Kennedy Town is on the water quite pretty, lots of restaurants, suburban.
Tai Hang is growing in popularity – the Sheung Wan of east side.
Anywhere past North Point is going to take you longer to get to work.
East of Causeway and you will take Aberdeen tunnel to work, this can sometimes have bad traffic. Though mostly only in afternoon.
Happy Valley has much bigger places but tricky with transport, no MTR, only buses and taxis and tram.
Wan Chai you have to be careful which street you are on – anything near all the bars will be probably noisy and a bit obnoxious to live in but some areas near queens road are nice.
As you move up into Mid-levels it’s a big uphill walk to be mindful off. At some points there are escalators.
Not much happening in places like Ap Lei Chau.
I probably would not live in Kowloon side or outlying Islands as it just increases commute but some people like it because its on the water or properties are generally better value for price – Sai Kung, Lamma, Discovery bay – you would get ferries to Central then from Central to work - 15 minutes drive.
I live in Sheung Wan and love it. There are several teachers that live in Kennedy Town. Tai Hang is also a popular area. And if you don’t mind commuting and love hiking and outdoors then there is Sai Kung and Lamma Island.} I have added some other notes onto the maps below, hope it is useful.
