Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Benny Ocha was the Battalion Commander during his senior year. First Sergeant Dougherty and records cite Ochoa as the first patriot Battalion Commander. It can be inferred that the 2017/2018 school year was the first time the Truman JROTC program reached Battalion Size. Benny was a professional yet compassionate leader. He was a Track and Field athlete before Raiders began. After graduation, Ochoa joined the Army to pursue a medical degree. He now works as an X-ray Technician.

Upon Graduation, Conrad joined the Marines as a Military Police officer (5811). Despite his dutiful work in the Corps, Logan never forgot where he came from. While at home, he made a point to visit the Patriot Battalion and share wisdom from his time in the program and the Marines.

His training drove the Raiders team to their first trophy at home. All Adam ever wanted to be was a cavalry scout. Every day when he went to work, he'd do push-ups in the backroom to prepare for army life. Straight out of High School, he enlisted as a 19 Delta. During his time, he pushed to create an exhibition team as well as training individual cadets for solo exhibitions. Alas, time was not on his side for that goal. His fellow cadets pass down the knowledge Adam shared in the hope that one day there will be a Truman exhibition team. Because of Adam's work, the drill team have become winners.

One of the most notable was the Veterans Day parade which was the first ever in the city of Independence.
