Mission Statement

The Bingham Counseling Team's mission is to deliver an effective comprehensive school counseling program that enables all students to believe that they belong and inspires students to become responsible citizens and caring individuals.

Confidentiality

The Bingham Counseling Team follows policies of confidentiality. The information that is shared in our offices stays in our offices unless students or their friends are talking about harming themselves, harming others or being harmed by others. Information will be shared with teachers, parents or staff members if permission is given by the student/guardian.

About Ms. Mitchem

Ms. Mitchem enjoys working with and supporting students. She has taught for sixteen years in ISD middle schools. She's going into her tenth year at Bingham, and she loves to see students come into their own during the perplexing middle-school years. In her spare time, Ms. Mitchem enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. 

Ms. Mitchem earned her Bachelor's degree in Human Development & Family Studies and Psychology at MU. She earned a Master's of Arts in Teaching with an emphasis in middle school Science and English from UCM.  Most recently, Ms. Mitchem earned her Master's degree in School Counseling from UMKC.

About Mrs. Hargis

Mrs. Hargis is excited to be in her second year as a school counselor in training at Bingham! Prior to this, she was a middle school math teacher in ISD for five years. Her favorite thing about school counseling is developing one-on-one relationships with students and supporting them in the ways they need. Mrs. Hargis enjoys spending time at home with her husband and their dogs in her free time.

Mrs. Hargis is earning her graduate degree in K-12 School Counseling from the University of Central Missouri. UCM is also where she earned her undergraduate degree in Middle School Math Education and Middle School Technology & Engineering Education.
