ISD MYP Course Offerings
The MYP organizes teaching and learning through eight subject groups: language and literature, language acquisition, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, arts, physical and health education, and design. In many cases, discrete or integrated disciplines may be taught and assessed within a subject group: for example, history and business management within the individuals and societies subject group, or biology and chemistry within the sciences subject group. As ISD is in the first year of full MYP implementation, the course outlines below are working documents and may be updated throughout the year. This indicates the reflective and flexible nature of the MYP.
MYP Aims & Objectives
The aims of each MYP course are the basis of curriculum development at ISD. All courses are designed with the aims in mind and units may change from year to year to ensure authentic learning experiences are provided to students. The aims of all MYP subjects state what a teacher may expect to teach and what a student may expect to experience and learn. These aims suggest how the student may be changed by the learning experience.
The objectives of each MYP course are the basis of assessment at ISD. All assessments given at ISD are assessed using at least one of the four assessment criteria found in each subject.
