We're excited about another track and field season!
This site provides some initial information about expectations, practices, and meets.
Spring sports schedules are subject to change.

Purpose Statement:
Our purpose is to introduce, improve upon, and guide each individual student-athlete towards a better understanding of the sport of track and field; emphasizing the importance of a TEAM philosophy in a fun and learning environment.
Expectations:
RESPECT above all else. It is important that you respect yourself, teammates, coaches, other competitors, and your equipment. Remember, you are representing BARNUM at all times.
LISTEN when coaches are talking, sharing, and teaching. When you pay attention, you hear all the important information and instruction. BE COACHABLE!
BE ON TIME to practice, meets, and the bus. Be respectful of the fact that everyone's time is valuable.
MEET BEHAVIOR: As coaches we expect you to cheer on your teammates as they compete, not sit in the camp. We expect you to act with maturity as you are representing BARNUM. Immature actions might include running around, throwing things, wrestling, or chasing each other. Mature actions are respectful and responsible.
BE PREPARED: Make sure you have your shoes, uniforms, and equipment needed. Relays teams are responsible for making sure they have a baton upon check in. Jumpers are responsible for making sure they have measuring tapes and chalk. We have all kinds of weather—be prepared for colder temperatures.
EVENTS will be entered for you by your coaches and you are expected to run the events you are entered in. You will have input as to what events you prefer but there will be times that you are needed to fill in or run a different event. This is a TEAM sport and we are competing as a team.
BUS: We expect you to ride the bus to and from the meets. You are also required to stay until the end of the meet.
Lettering Requirements:
To letter an athlete must qualify under one or more requirements:
earn 20 varsity points
place in the top two at the Varsity Polar League Meet
qualify for the Section Meet
have fewer than three unexcused practices
Coaches discretion
