Welcome to the classroom website for Advanced Placement English Language and Composition. Here you will find links to our course calendar (Assignment Calendar), course content (Lessons and Notes), and AP Exam information and materials.
We have a lot of work to do before May, but we can accomplish great things when we work together!
In order to find success in an AP classroom, you must find the motivation and drive to push yourself beyond your current comfort level in the world of academics. Without a doubt, there are times this year where you will struggle with content, a particular assignment, a type of analysis, or understanding of a particular rhetorical mode.
Here are two things about that: 1) it is okay, and 2) it is normal. When you find yourself feeling frustrated or overwhelmed, take a minute to relax, put things into perspective, and write try to identify exactly what you find so challenging.
It is my job to push you, but it is also my job to assist you in growing as a student and life-long learner and to guide you toward success. So let's get started!
Because this class is taught at the college level, there are expectations that are equal to those students can expect to find in college, including email communication. It is required of all students in this course that you check your school email account on a daily basis during the school week in order to check for upcoming assignments, missed classwork, or direct communication from me.
In return, you can expect that I will be checking my email throughout the school day. Please note that I do not reply to student emails after school hours (4:00 pm) or on weekends unless otherwise indicated or on a case-by-case basis related to important situations (illness, family emergencies, etc).
