The Carolers are an auditioned seasonal chamber ensemble consisting of up to 40 members that perform around Owatonna on an annual basis. The Carolers started in 1938 under the direction of Joel Dolvan and have performed for the community every year with the exception of one year which we believe happened during World War II although we do not have records on this detail.
Student Directors: In the same way that athletic teams have captains, the Carolers have student conductors. These students are strong leaders within our program. Some conductors are planning on majoring in music in college and being a student conductor helps prepare them for that, other conductors just want to challenge themselves. Overall, the program is filled with amazing student musicians and having students conduct the pieces helps us highlight the talent and dedication in our program!Â
