REAP EXPECTATIONS/Trojan Tickets:
As a class, we will be discussing behavioral expectations throughout the school year. Falcon Ridge has adopted the R.E.A.P program as a unified set of school-wide expectations for behavior. You will hear about Trojan tickets that they earn and will see them come home with a Trojan stamp or sticker when they earn one!

BOOK ORDERS:
Scholastic: Book order forms will be sent home periodically. When you order items from Scholastic our class earns points; these points allow us to purchase more wonderful books for our classroom library.
You may also order online:
Class Code: P7NJ4
BIRTHDAYS:
We will celebrate each student’s birthday in our classroom and help them feel extra-special on their big day. If your child has a summer birthday, we will also celebrate summer birthdays near the end of the school year. I ask that you email me to pick a day in May to celebrate if your child has a summer birthday.
Due to allergies in the classroom and grade level this year we are asking parents to not send in any snack like treats, but other non-edible trinkets are fine. Another option is that your child will get to pick an extra activity of choice. A whole group game, extra recess, or extra free choice are some options for non edible birthday celebrations as well! I have a visual for them to pick and am happy to send it to you earlier so you can help them decide how they would like to celebrate their big day at school!
MEALS:
Breakfast: Every kindergarten student receives breakfast each morning, free of charge. It is brought to our classroom and students eat at their table spots. They are asked to take three items (grain, fruit, dairy). I believe lunch is free this year too!
School Lunch: You will receive a monthly lunch menu sent to the email you have entered into your infinite campus email. Please ensure that your child is aware of what type of lunch they are eating each day. They may bring a lunch from home, eat the school-provided hot lunch, or they may also select an “uncrustable” PB & J sandwich as a school-provided option. Please have your child practice their lunch pin! I will provide this for them if/when they forget! The lunch keypad looks something like this!
Snack/Milk: You may sign your child up for the snack cart items through nutrition services. You may also sign them up to get snack milk, which is also through nutrition services.

If your child does not get a snack from the snack cart, I ask that you provide a “smart snack” (healthy snack) for your child to eat each day. (Refer to the link above for a list of suggested healthy snack options.)**Please help your child understand the difference between their snack and their lunch if both items are brought from home.** I have found that it helps if their snack is not put in their lunchbox from home, as they might forget that it is for snack and accidently eat it at lunch.
I suggest that your child bring a reusable water bottle that can stay at school. I will remind your child to bring the water bottle home every Friday so it can get washed, but some choose to bring it home everyday too!
ACADEMICS:
Our kindergarten team works together to carefully plan many engaging, hands-on activities that will intentionally support your child’s specific academic and social needs while they are here at school.
Each day we will be busy accomplishing many important educational tasks; sometimes you will see evidence of our hard work via papers and projects that come home in your child’s daily folder. I encourage you to ask your child what the papers show they learned. Other times you might see a snapshot on Seesaw of something we have completed during a small group or station time.
While I do not have a specific homework program, I do ask that you find time to read with your child every day. Whether it is you reading to them, them reading to you (reading the pictures counts as reading), reading a menu at a restaurant, or reading a board book to a younger sibling, reading at home together is one of the most important ways to support your child in kindergarten literacy.
This time spent at home reinforcing skills should be a low-stress and enjoyable time spent with your child! I am happy to give more ideas if you ever want any!
COMMUNICATION:
Daily Folders: Each day your child will bring home a folder with their daily work along with communications from school. Please check this every night!
Seesaw: We use this educational portfolio to share some of the activities we do in class. Instructions will be provided for accessing Seesaw from a smartphone or computer.
Email: This is the most consistent way to contact me if you have questions or concerns. I will send out regular classroom communication via email and/or Seesaw. mpfarr@isd721.org
COMING TO SCHOOL:
Drop off – please use the northwest door by the playground. An adult will be there from 8:55-9:05. IF after 9:05, please drop off at the front entrance AFTER the buses have departed. Bus Riders- If they’re riding the bus, try to set that routine as soon as possible.
GOING HOME:
If your child’s normal routine is going to be different, please send a note, email, or call the office at (952)758-1600. If it is a last minute change, please CALL the office. Best practice is to let both me and the office know, just incase I have a substitute or something, we make sure each child gets to where they need to be!
Bus:
ALL bus riders will be walked out to their bus by the teacher.
Office Pick Up:
Students wait by the office for parents to come into school to get them.
Car Pick Up:
Students walk out front after buses leave with adult supervision. Parents pull in front of school for their child to quickly get into the vehicle.
