My Sickness

I Have Root Rot!

Lately, some of my friends have root rot. Their needles have become yellow and are falling off, and their bark is brittle and loose. They are also vulnerable to insects in this state. Root rot is caused by fungal pathogens, like Annosum and Armillaria, or molds, like Phytopnthora or Pythium. White pine, ponderosa, and lodgepole pines get it most, but all pines can get it. Luckily, I got fungicidal sprays when it was minor, so I am fine now. The best way to find out if you have it is underground. One of my friends has shoestring-like strands tangled with his root, which are strings of fungus.
