2022 (Year 4): In the 4th year of our Grant we established a Computer Science Department within our District. Our District team consists of elementary, middle school and high school teachers that collaborate together as a unit several times a year. We are working hard to keep our programs and momentum going to continue building CS into our K-12 student learning pathway.
2021 (Year 3): In year three our High School adds another elective for 9th & 10th Graders called Exploring Data and Computing. This course was designed to be a bridge course between Middle School STEAM and the High School CIS course Essentials of Computer Science.
2020 (Year 2): Collaboration within programs begins between Elementary Specialists. Our Middle School adds a STEAM Specialist teacher and program for all students grades 5 - 8.
2019 (Year 1): Grant Begins. Technology Integrationists are asked to represent the District to bring CS to Hermantown Community Schools. We begin with goal setting, creating vision statements and researching other Computer Science initiatives to identify successes and failures. Three programs exist within District and all had separate goals or course outcomes. High School offers college in the schools course that allows students the option to receive college credit for course completion.
