Founded in Hermantown, Talons Robotics has grown from a small team with a big idea into a thriving, district-wide robotics program. Over the years, Team 5232 has represented Hermantown at the highest levels of FIRST Robotics Competition, including trips to the FIRST Championship in 2016, 2023, and 2024, and appearances at the Minnesota State Tournament in 2023 and 2024. Along the way, our students have built competitive robots, solved real engineering problems, learned from mentors, traveled as a team, and discovered that robotics is about much more than the machine on the field.
Today, Hermantown robotics includes over 120 students across FLL, FTC, and FRC, creating opportunities for students from elementary school through high school to build skills, confidence, and community. Talons alumni have gone on to earn scholarships and pursue careers in computer science, engineering, art, music, theater, aviation, electrical engineering, the military, welding, business, and more. We are proud of our accomplishments, but even more proud of the students behind them: creative problem-solvers, teammates, leaders, and makers who carry what they learn in robotics into whatever comes next.
