Snow day Schedule

We are now having E-Learning days when we know that bad weather may be happening. This ensures that we do not have to make up days in the Spring! When bad weather is expected your students will be sent home with their Chromebook and charger and they should be returned the next time they are in class. 

Pro-tip! Remind your student to plug their Chromebook in over night.

What does an E-Learning day look like?

Students are expected to log into their first google meeting of the day at 10am. Families will know if it is an E-Learning day by 6:00am that day.  Your student should not be working on their Chromebook all day. If they are not in a Google Meet, they should only be doing up to 2 hours of individual work. 

Here is the schedule for 5th and 6th grade students on an E-Learning day

10am -11 am 6th grade with Mrs. Lundquist              ------------- 5th grade is with Ms. A from 10-11

11am - 12pm 6th Grade with Ms. Anderson                ------------- 5th grade is with Mrs. Lundquist  from 11-12

On an e learning day, students will:

• Access their Google Classroom(s)

• Complete e learning day assignments before the start of the following school day.

• Communicate questions for teachers via email, Google Classroom or other appropriate digital medium.

In advance, students will:

• know where to access and be able to log in to their Google Classroom(s) from a device 

On an e learning day, parents will:

• monitor student progress on e-learning day activities, as appropriate 

• communicate questions for teachers via email or other appropriate digital medium if needed 

e learning days activities will:

• Utilize Google Classroom for students

• Utilize multiple types of materials formats, that may include online videos, online articles, and other collaborative media and communication formats

Communication regarding elearning days will:

• The plan will be communicated via a letter to parents from the district

• Be sent via the district emergency contact system by 6 am on an e learning day

• Utilize social media on an e learning day

On an e learning day, teacher will:

• Post learning goals,activities and assignments in Google Classroom by 10 am

• Post overview and instructions of assignments via Google Classroom

• Submit e learning day work plans to administration by 10 am.

• Monitor email and classroom comments to answer questions and provide feedback to students and/or parents between 10 am and 3 pm.

In advance, teachers will:

• Collaborate with specialists and/or other staff who have access in the Google Classroom to assist and provide accommodations for students.

• Work individually with students without internet access to make appropriate accommodations for work completion.

• Design e learning day assignments with the expectation that students will be able to complete all assigned tasks for the day.

After, teachers will

• Communicate the following day with office staff to report absent students (those not completing work or checking in on the ELD)

Classroom:

• Google Classroom up and running

• Classroom teachers add appropriate specialist and or learning provider to google classroom

• Teacher inform and provide instructions to students for accessing google classroom from home

• Teacher share ELD virtual office hours with students (office hours 10am-3pm)

District:

• Make sure all staff have a Classroom set up for all courses

• Develop a how to plan for a e learning day

• Link to Battle Lakes plan on the school website

• Use the emergency communication system to notify closure and e learning day

• Send home student instruction letter and parent instruction letter

• Student instruction letters should communicate expectations and identify students usernames and passwords for online accounts

• Create instructions (written or video) for families that demonstrates how students can access ELD materials
